Born to win! Happy Heavenly Birthday, Mommy.

I dedicate this blog to my mother, Doris, Denise, Jackson. Not only is today her birthday, but it’s her half century Birthday. 50 Years!

Kings & Queens: We were born to win and attain the freedom to think, create, and pursue happiness. We were born to thrive in every aspect of our daily goals and lives. We were born to confront the odds.

Fifty years ago, to date, the queen that gave me life, knowledge, and the motivation and inspiration to pursue a career in a doctoral field was born; she gave birth to me 14 sudden years later. And presently, we celebrate her through the embodiment of the Doris Denise Jackson Foundation, as well as the Doris Denise Jackson Dreamergency Walk, in respect of her name. Each year, we raise funds through our nonprofit 501 (c ) (3) organization to donate scholarships to disadvantaged students from underserved areas who are intellectuals, leaders, do-ers, and shakers in their local community and school atmosphere. The DDJ Scholars represent the youth authorities of the now and the future who aspire for the best, and as a result, they never approve any limitations to dissuade them. As you can visualize, bringing up a child at 14 years old, a teenage mother, was demanding for Denise. But as Kings and Queens, we perpetrate past all forms of excuses; we nudge through all resistance because we were born to succeed. And she did succeed by planting a seed of ambition that has carried over from generation to generation.

So on this day, I set a goal for us to raise $350 or more, which will cover the amount of one DDj Scholar for our 2021 DDJ Scholarship Season- Apply HERE (Winners to be announced at the 4th Annual Doris Denise Jackson Dreamergency Walk – Saturday, November 27, 2021, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm)

Our students are chosen based on their plans to focus on careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and/Math), Medicine, Dentistry, Entrepreneurship, and Business. With your help and financial support, it’s our foundation’s very accomplishable mission to give back funds that directly impact disadvantaged students and reward them for defying the odds. Hopefully, we will raise more capital and invest more knowledge, prosperity, and positive energy into disadvantaged communities of color and other minorities.

This scholarship program has been going for the past three years; so far, we’ve awarded ten students with DDJ scholarships, the majority from Tallahassee, Florida; Houston, Texas, Killeen, Texas, and Quincy, Florida. In the upcoming year’s as the Doris Denise Jackson Foundation expands, we hope to increase the DDJ Scholarship amount, locations, and the number of recipients.

So, today, no matter what you are going through, please know that this pandemic has impacted the entire world, so you are not alone. We must stick together and continue leading by example. We are our ancestor’s most expansive dreams and we will continue exceeding our goals.
